Summary | This document assesses the sustainability and economic sense of various biomass / biogas applications and future developments concerning green gas. The results show green gas is often not the most sustainable or cost effective means to reduce GHG emissions. Subsidies for biomass mistakenly use focus on the means (energy production) rather than the goal (avoiding CO2 emissions). A debacle like with liquid biofuels should be avoided by improving policy and criteria for biomass / biogas use |
