Summary
|
Gas-powered driving and sailing ? the cost and environmental impact of natural gas and green gas as transport fuel. ? Study investigates the costs of transport for different fuels, excluding taxes and subsidies. ? The fuel costs for bio compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquid natural gas (LNG) are 30-75% higher than the present diesel price. ? Green gas could be 50-65% cheaper, however costs depend heavily on the scale of digestion operations. ? The vehicle costs for cars running on CNG are often no more expensive than standard vehicles. However larger vehicles or cars running on LNG this is not the case. ? Natural gas as a transport fuel could reduce the lifecycle CO2 emissions by 15-35%, depending on where the natural gas is sourced.
